Role Overview

Join UST as a Sr. Development Manager - Search, where you'll lead the development and innovation of an enterprise-grade intelligent search platform for Waters.com and digital ecosystems. You'll work across engineering, data, and product teams to deliver personalized, AI-enhanced discovery experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the delivery and evolution of the enterprise Search platform
• Lead the Search engineering squad ensuring timely, quality delivery
• Define and drive the technical roadmap aligned with business and customer needs
• Collaborate across departments to enhance indexing, data ingestion, ranking, and performance
• Champion modern CI/CD, DevOps, and monitoring practices
• Stay ahead of advancements in AI/ML, NLP, and Search technologies
• Promote best engineering practices like microservices, cloud-native design, and domain-driven architecture

Tech Stack & Skills Required

Core Technologies

• Search Platforms: Apache Solr (mandatory), other modern search stacks
• Languages: Java, J2EE, Spring Boot
• APIs: RESTful API design and implementation
• Architecture: Microservices, cloud-native development
• Cloud: AWS (preferred), Azure
• Frontend (Preferred): React.js
• DevOps Tools: CI/CD pipelines, Git, Atlassian tools, observability solutions

Search Domain Expertise

• Relevance tuning, NLP, faceting, synonyms, stemming, query parsing
• Real-time indexing and data pipeline experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or relevant technical field
• 10+ years in software development, with at least 5+ years in engineering leadership

• Strong background in monitoring, observability, and system performance tuning
• Proven experience with agile/scrum methodologies
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills
• Passionate about search and discovery UX innovation
